Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, known as ‘The Boss of Bosses’, one of the founders of the Guadalajara Cartel, received the benefit of house arrest on Monday.
The judge granted him this measure after the drug trafficker, sentenced in 2017 to seven years in prison for the murder of DEA agent Enrique Camarena “El Kiki” Salazar, which occurred on February 7, 1985, presented health problems.
Just in December 2020, the capo’s defense had processed an amparo to request this benefit, which was finally granted.
Félix Gallardo, 76, was arrested in 1989 accused of drug trafficking and other crimes. Since then he has remained in the Puente Grande Prison, Jalisco.
Thirty-seven years after being arrested, in 2017, “The boss of bosses” was found guilty of committing the crime of qualified homicide, with premeditation and advantage, for which, in addition to spending more time in prison, he was sentenced to pay 20 million 810,000 pesos as compensation for the damage caused by the death of the agent and a pilot of Mexican nationality.

When the amnesty proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was questioned for inmates over 75 years of age to be released from prison, the capo said he was not interested in it, although he sent good wishes to the federal president.

Caro Quintero was captured last Friday, July 15, in the San Simón region, in the municipality of Choix in Sinaloa; after remaining a fugitive from justice since 2013, when he was released during the early hours of August 13, when a court ordered his release, after 28 years in prison, that is, 12 years before serving his sentence.

Little more than 8 years later, elements of the Secretary of the Navy found his location and the arrest was carried out. That same Friday, Caro Quintero was transferred to the Altiplano Prison in the State of Mexico, where he was notified that the United States had requested his extradition.
“Don Neto” released
“Don Neto”, as Ernesto Fonseca is called, is one of the founders of the Guadalajara Cartel, considered to be one of the first Mexican cartels that, after the capture of its main leaders, fragmented to give way to criminal organizations such as the Cartel of Sinaloa and the Arellano Félix Cartel.
Fonseca Carrillo had been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the murder and kidnapping of Camarena and Alfredo Zavala Avelar. After 30 years, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) granted him house arrest, suffering from various ailments, including colon cancer, rheumatism, hiatal hernia, and hypertension, among others, and being on the verge of losing sight.
“Don Neto” was sent to an address located in a luxury residence in Atizapán de Zaragoza, in the State of Mexico; with a bracelet. However, in 2017 he achieved total freedom.
