Fernando Alanís Cárdenas, president of the Association of Vacation Clubs, stated that the eight developments that serve this segment of tourism with 2,500 keys registered an occupancy rate of over 80%.

“Right now the phenomenon that is happening is that those who wanted to come during the height of the pandemic and couldn’t, made their reservations to do it on other dates, so possibly for the rest of the following year, we are going to continue receiving many of these partners who now can and want to come,” he said.

Alanís Cárdenas indicated that during the months prior to the vacation period, timeshares began to register 70% occupancy, which rose to almost 90% in July and August.

He stressed that Mazatlán has a blessing called national tourism and although the foreigner is very noble and leaves an important spill, there are still some problems for him to return.

FAMILY DESTINATION

He pointed out that the advantage that Mazatlan offers over other tourist sites in the country is that it still remains a family destination.

“We are famous for it, it has supported us a lot and above all, a large part of our market includes timeshares in the northern area and a large part of them come by road, so that is something that still favors us,” he said.

He recalled that with the pandemic the hotel industry, in general, was closed and at that time the timeshare developments took the opportunity to provide maintenance, were trained and reassessed the part of the human resource.
