Compared to 2019, Mazatlan had a 25 percent growth in airflow this summer, confirmed the general manager of the Mazatlan International Airport, Vladimir Ramírez del Ángel.

MAZATLAN. – Until August 29, the summer vacations officially end, even so, the closure of it looks positive everywhere, reporting growth even in the air flow in the main airports of Sinaloa.

The manager of the Mazatlán International Airport, Víctor Vladimir Ramírez del Ángel, mentioned that at the end of July around 123 thousand 398 passengers were mobilized, that is, 24 percent more than in the summer of 2019 and 25 percent more than in 2021

“For the month of August, the growth of passengers continues to rise, in the first two weeks of the month we bring an increase of 37 percent, which is really an outstanding figure, historical because we had not had an influx of passengers against the best year that the airport has had,” he declared.

Ramírez del Ángel visualizes that at the end of this summer season they will have a good recovery and close, thus achieving a positive summer vacation season; Among the routes that circulated the most in Mazatlan were Tijuana, Mexico City and Monterrey.

The ‘culichis’ also had tourism

For his part, José Luis Villanueva, manager of the Culiacán International Airport, pointed out that during the current vacation period, the number of passengers grew by 33 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

This upward percentage, he indicated, has to do with the increase in the number of passengers traveling the Culiacán-Tijuana route, equivalent to 45 percent of the operations carried out every day at the airport.

“Currently there is an average of more than 7,000 people that we serve a day at the airport, these passengers are departures and arrivals, so this is relevant because these 7,000 people are already more people who have a day if we compare it with the year 2019”, he commented.

Villanueva added that the 7,000 passengers per day are equivalent to more than 42 daily operations from different destinations, but mainly Tijuana, Mexico, and Guadalajara, estimating that by the end of 2022, Culiacán could reach 2 million passengers.
