Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- For more than 70 years, Alicia Martínez has been in charge of refreshing Mazatlans and tourists with delicious flavored waters inside the Pino Suárez Market, in “El Rinconcito” a local juice and smoothies that have passed from generation to generation.
“The business belonged to my father-in-law, Vicente García, they called him “little juice”, he started with four jugs, after he died the son followed, and I, the son’s wife, and now the grandson. It’s a family business.” Alicia told us wistfully.

“We sell waters, chocomilk, smoothies, cakes, breakfasts. The water is seasonal, right now in August-July, soursop, nanchi, barley and horchata are sold a lot. Right now it’s a novelty in mojito that has mint, lemon, cucumber and it sells a lot, but the soursop and horchata are the ones that sell the most.”
The key to the success of their business is the way Doña Alicia and her son serve their customers, who undoubtedly leave a very good taste in their mouths.
“The care with which we make them, these waters have flavor from the moment we put them on, until we leave around 4 in the afternoon and the way we serve customers. I like to greet customers, I try to serve them; How are you? Good luck, thank you!”
