Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- In an ordinary session of the Municipal Public Security Council, its members agreed to strengthen actions to improve security, with respect for the Human Rights of all citizens, before the start of the summer vacation season.

When setting up the session, the Municipal Mayor, Chemist Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres, stressed that at a national and international level, Mazatlan is recognized as a safe destination, and proof of this is that the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Rigoberta Menchú, will celebrate here the 30th anniversary of having received such a distinction, after evaluating the cities of the country. He also said that Mazatlan has been recognized as one of the 30 model cities for its quality of life.

“We have to be better every day. That is why, in addition to thanking you for the results we are having, I want to ask you to improve, to make an effort to make Mazatlan safer every day. That will depend on Mazatlan continuing to grow as it is.”

The General Coordinator of the Public Security Council, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, mentioned that the summer vacation period begins today, so it is necessary that the vehicle and person inspections carried out by the Ministry of Public Security and Traffic must continue to inhibit crimes so that Mazatlan continues with the development it brings, and as a preferred city for vacationing.

For his part, counselor José Antonio Serna, representative of the Sinaloa Delegation of the Confederation of Bar Associations and Associations of Mexico AC, requested to reinforce surveillance in tourist areas, with the participation of the three levels of government, without neglecting the rest of the city; while the councilor José de Jesús Montoya considered it necessary to increase road signage in tourism areas.
