Mayor Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres said that he does not see the need for citizens to be forced to wear face masks in open spaces.

MAZATLAN. – After the rebound in Covid-19 cases in Sinaloa, and having already officially declared the fifth wave, the mayor of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, assured the public that there is no reason to panic.

He said that the city council is already analyzing the capacity and will seek to put a heavy hand on the establishments with sanitary measures.

“A meeting was held with the markets, they are going to have to do it,” he said.

How much can the capacity reach in Mazatlan? she asked.

“We have not defined, but everything will depend on the areas,” he said.

Will the mask return in open spaces? he was questioned.

“I do not consider it necessary and more so if I know that there is only one hospitalized, but this is nothing more so that panic is not created,” said Benitez Torres.

He commented that currently, the capacity is 90 percent, both in hotels and in restaurants, and other commercial spaces.
