Since his arrival at the presidency, the Chemical Mayor Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres has turned Mazatlan into an inclusive and participatory municipality, an example of this is the immense support he provides to the LGBT+ community, who in this June 2022 are preparing a series of celebrations in the so-called “Pride Month”.
Under the slogan “Free and Visible for Our Rights”, at a press conference members of the community and activists, accompanied by the Director of Logistics and Protocol of the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán, Irving Campos, on behalf of the Director-General Lic. José Ángel Tostado Quevedo, announced the week of activities that will be integrated with talks, forums, parties and the traditional march.
The official commented that, for the parade on June 18, the Institute of Culture will support with 15 allegorical cars, these will have modifications with colors, music and lighting for a greater enhancement, having as a route from the Glorieta Sánchez Taboada to Valentinos, the march will start at 5:00 p.m.
Tulio Martínez, President of the Sinaloa Diverso Association, indicated that the calendar of activities begins on June 13 and 14 with social conferences, at Casa Haas starting at 7:00 p.m., where members who are professionals and people who will their life stories, as well as their struggle, admission will be free. On Wednesday the 15th, they will have a colorful party at Cotorritos Bar, with great surprises, an event with a cause. On Thursday, June 16, the collective exhibition “Art with Pride” will be inaugurated, which will be open until July 16 and will be free admission.
The activities will culminate on Saturday 18 with the traditional march and coronation of the representative of Pride 2022, which until now remains a great surprise.
The LGBTTTIQ+ community thanked the determined support of the Government of Mazatlan led by the Chemical Mayor Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres, since since he took office he has become one more defender of equality and inclusion.
“Apart from all the logistics that are being carried out by Culture and Sinaloa Diverso, always thank the Mayor, we as a community, as an LGBT population, have a lot to thank him for, since he has been in his administration, he has given us all the support. and all the facilities to carry out the march or any event or anything that has to do with advancing inclusion and making the LGBT population visible, we have to make that very clear,” activist Vicky Ibarra stressed.
