Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- According to the National Meteorological Service, the forecast of tropical cyclones and rains for 2022 indicates that there will be an active season, more than usual in the Atlantic Ocean, while in the Ocean Pacific, it is expected between normal and up to 25 percent above average, the above was announced at the national meeting of Civil Protection, for the rainy season and cyclones 2022 that took place this Tuesday in Mazatlan.

It is forecast that, of the total number of tropical cyclones generated in both the Atlantic and the Pacific, at least 5 will impact the country and the Pacific is expected to see the greatest activity of these natural phenomena in August.

The federal agency highlights that the states that have had the greatest impact due to natural phenomena are Baja California Sur with 17 percent, in second place is Veracruz, with 13.3 percent, and in third place, there is a tie between Quintana Roo and Sinaloa. , with 12.2 percent.

“September is the month that is expected to have the most cyclonic activity. The forecast for 2022 contemplates that 30 to 40 tropical cyclones may develop, while in the case of the Pacific, 14 to 19 tropical cyclones are expected, 8 to 10 tropical storms, 4 to 5 category 1 and 2 hurricanes and 2 to 4 category 3, 4 and 5 hurricanes”, it was reported.

Agatha will be the first system to develop in the Pacific, while in the month of July the rains are expected to be concentrated in the Northwest and in the western area of ​​the Central States, the Yucatan Peninsula, and the Southeast.

The event was attended by Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, the mayor of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, among other municipal presidents, and authorities involved in the prevention, security, and rescue throughout the country.
