Older adults of the port once again have a meeting point, coexistence and recreation
Built in 1854, the Zaragoza square is a piece of land donated by Juan Guzmán and built in honor of General Ignacio Zaragoza. For many years, numerous flower stalls graced the area; however, today the setting stands out for its leafy trees and a kiosk where intense games of chess and dominoes are held. Every Thursday, its gardens become a meeting point for couples who come to dance to the rhythm of danzón and salsa. In addition to resting, you can take advantage of the activities that are taught, such as yoga, conversation club, drawing and painting workshop and lottery Fridays.
Danzón Thursdays were reactivated in the Plazuela Zaragoza for the adults of the port after 2 years of being inactive due to the health contingency by Covid-19.
Continuing with the vision of the Government of Mazatlán, headed by mayor Benítez Torres, of seeking the well-being of the port’s older adults and providing spaces for coexistence and recreation for them, the ex-President of DIF Mazatlán, Gabriela Peña Chico, reactivated from this Thursday, May 19, the performance of the Jueves de Danzón in Plazuela Zaragoza.
The event was attended by more than 200 seniors from 27 INAPAM groups and the general public, who were able to enjoy a moment of joy and coexistence, as well as the danzón classes of Professor Manuel Trejo, Jesús Cortez, Ercilia Cutiño and Dulce Uribe. .
Danzón Thursdays will be held on Thursdays of each month with the intention of motivating the older adults of the port, as well as improving their quality of life with physical and emotional activation.
