Juan Camacho, the coordinator of Strategic Alliances, commented that inflation, in addition to the pandemic, has affected thousands of families, who have approached the institution for support.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The food need has increased as a result of the pandemic, for just over two years, likewise, the list of beneficiaries that the Food Bank of Mazatlán has, therefore, is that registration was limited to more people for a few months, said Juan Camacho.

The coordinator of Strategic Alliances of BAMX, pointed out that currently, due to inflation, even more people have approached to request registration to the register, to access a pantry, however, due to the low contribution of donations, it has been impossible for them support them, in addition to not having other options to refer them, because many institutions are in the same situation.

“But there are still a lot of people waiting for an opportunity to join this register, unfortunately in terms of the pandemic because it came to affect us a lot, and if we add to this now what inflation is, between 7 and 8 percent , to be able to buy a pantry, a basic food, rose a lot”.

Juan Camacho mentioned that the little more than 11,000 beneficiaries have been receiving pantries with all the nutrients, from grains, cereals, proteins and legumes, the latter donated by agricultural producers in the region, although with the closure of the vegetable cycle, they estimate a decrease in donations until it starts again.

He added that with the prices currently presented by the products of the so-called basic basket, it is difficult for families at this time to acquire a complete pantry, as it was until a year ago, which would be increasing poverty rates.
