After Carnival, Easter Week is the entertainment event that generates the most economic benefits

MAZATLAN. – Mazatlan did more than well during Easter Week, thanks to the International Motorcycle Week, or that was what the authorities announced in a balance of the facts.

Despite the accidents, the edition left an economic spill of 770 million pesos, making it the celebration that has left the most money in recent years, as reported by Ricardo Velarde, Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries of Mazatlan.

The visitors, coming from the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Querétaro, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Zacatecas, Sonora, and other states, packed 98 percent of the hotel rooms, especially during the weekend.

The rural area was not far behind and La Noria and El Quelite had a 50 percent increase in their influx. Tourist circuits have given good results according to SEDECTUR.

On that same date, 5 cruise ships visited with 16,987 tourists who left an economic spill of 17.4 million pesos.

There were around 13,500 national motorcyclists, who together with their companions, and with local people, gave a total of 25 thousand participants in the traditional parade.

Economic expectations were exceeded by 20 percent since an economic spill of 1,650 million was projected between Easter and Easter, but this figure was exceeded and reached 1,970 million.

For his part, the Civil Protection Coordinator, Eloy Ruiz Gastélum, shared that from April 20 to 24 there was an influx of 245,000 people in the beach area, and during Motorcycle Week, 125,000 people attended the different activities.

On the subject of garbage collection during Motorcycle Week, 4,872 tons were removed from the city from April 21 to 24, which reflects 2% more than during the last Easter season.
