The director of CAPTA, Astrid Macías Fregoso, explained that a few days ago they had a large group of 60 people from Aguascalientes, whom they were able to help and give them a meal in contrast to the fraud experience they had.

He said that they were also supported in presenting their complaint coordination work is being carried out between the Prosecutor’s Office and the Cyber ​​Police to be able to investigate this case because it was a large group of people who were affected.

“ The associations are already driving and promoting this prevention campaign so that everything is searched directly on their websites and the MZTourist application, that is also what it is for, it is a reference for both hotel and restaurant operators, tourist services, tour operators that they really exist and that they are committed to providing a good experience to tourists, ”explained the municipal official.

Macías Fregoso clarified that the cyber fraud is not taking place from Mazatlan, but that they use the destination to practically fish for visitors, and for this, they create an account, a page and use photos of Mazatlán, its boardwalk, its attractions and this is how this type of fraud is being carried out.

He added that it is not the tourist destination itself, but that fraud is done through cyber networks, so hoteliers are already involved in promoting prevention strategies to avoid this type of incident in the future.
