Mazatlan.Sinaloa-. Prior to the Easter holiday period, the Mazatlán hotel sector has detected fraud in reservations through false pages, where they use logos of Mazatlan hotels, José Ramón Manguart Sánchez denounced.
The president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association explained that this problem has arisen in the last 15 days, where at least 4 families from different states of the country were victims of fraud through false pages.
“In the last week, a theme began to emerge that we had not seen, which are pages that are using photographs and logos of the hotels that claim to sell the hotels and people are coming to the counter who bring non-existent paid rooms. For 15 days, we have received 4 frauds”, he said.
He stated that this situation keeps them worried and busy because although it is not something particular to Mazatlan, but to the entire country, it is important that people are not surprised by these cases that directly affect their economy, since vacationers arrive at the destination safe to have a paid room and when they show up at the hotel they realize that they were scammed by ghost platforms.
Manguart Sánchez lamented that the formal complaints do not proceed due to the simple fact that there is no proof of reservation payment or the exact page with a paid domain that can be identified.
Given this, he called for them to book directly at hotels or established agencies, so that they are not surprised by this type of scammers.
“That they have a physical place where you can look for them, because we have had people who do not even remember the name of the portal where they made their reservation,” he concluded.
