The Mazatlán Book Festival 2022 begins, find out where and when

From March 29 to April 3 at Plazuela Machado

MAZATLAN.- It’s time to read! This afternoon the Mazatlán Book Festival 2022 (FELIM) “Connecting the world” was officially inaugurated.

This Tuesday the event was inaugurated, which will bring with it various cultural activities in the Plazuela Machado, as well as a concert on Saturday in Olas Altas by Eugenia León

This festival seeks to promote reading and the arts. At its formal start, it was attended by José Ángel Tostado Quevedo, director of the Institute of Culture, Nayla Velarde Narváez, Senior Official, Citlali Hernández, general secretary of Morena, Alonso Guerra, coordinator of the Festival, Paloma Saenz, from the “Read in Freedom” Brigade.

It was Paco Ignacio Taibo ll, director of the Economic Culture Fund, who officially opened the 2022 Book Festival with a message that promotes the importance of reading daily.

In his message, Mayor Benítez Torres stated that this is an extremely important event and that it is here to stay to promote and instill the value of reading in all citizens.

“For me it is a day to be very happy, there is a phrase that says, whoever reads will drive and whoever does not will not and that was one of the premises to do it”.

The event was enlivened by a concert by Gabino Palomares, where some copies of the book “De los cuates pa’ la raciala” were also given to those present.

FELIM will take place from March 29 to April 3, at Plazuela Machado from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

This is intended to bring together thousands of readers to meet at the approximately 30 stands that are installed around Plazuela Ángela Peralta and Casa Haas, where people can purchase copies from 50 pesos and/or other promotions that we are sure not you want to lose

This fair will be attended by renowned writers and book presentations such as “Paper Cemetery” and “Twenty of Copper” by Fritz Glocker and “Pirate Women: The Prostitute Princesses and Corsairs Who Ruled the Seven Seas”, by Laura Sook Duncombe.

One of the best Mexican singers will participate in the Mazatlán Book Festival 2022, “Eugenia León” in a free concert. Don’t miss it this Saturday, April 02, starting at 8:30 p.m. at Olas Altas (Monumento al Venadito).

The health protocol

To access the Plazuela Machado, people will have to do it through three sanitizing tunnels, antibacterial gel will be applied and the temperature will be taken.

Approximately 10,000 books were sold in the first edition of FELIM.
