Sinaloa.- 21 girls and boys, graduates and about to leave the sixth year of primary school from the Taramari indigenous community of La Tuna de Abajo, in the Sinaloa municipality, will be able to continue their studies without having to travel two hours to the nearest secondary school. Now they will have a telesecundaria.
Catalina Esparza Navarrete, the undersecretary of Educational Planning, reported that after carrying out a six-year feasibility study, the construction of the telesecundaria was authorized on Friday, March 18, which will begin operating from the 2022-2023 school year.
He explained that the foregoing is in response to management carried out by Hortensia López Gaxiola, an activist and recently awarded the 2022 “Agustina Ramírez” Social Merit Award. The inhabitants of the community of La Tuna de Abajo warned that 21 minors are at risk of suspending their studies due to the lack of a secondary school, as well as the resources to be able to move to another area.
“The construction of this telesecundaria is considered appropriate and work is going to be done on the creation of the code of the work center for the allocation of resources. We wish and the intention is that the telesecundaria will start operations in the 2022-2023 school year, starting in August,” said the undersecretary.
He added that this telesecundaria will operate as a concentration school, which means that they will be able to serve boys and girls from other indigenous communities near La Tuna de Abajo.
