Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- In a show that Mazatlan society already missed, the International Carnival of Mazatlan witnessed the coronation of Obed Ibarra as monarch of the maximum party of the port.
The ceremony was adorned with the presence of Carin León, who enlivened the moment with some of her most famous songs, which were chanted by the attendees.
Likewise, municipal authorities were present during the event entitled “Lanao, the journey continues”, with the appearance of comparsas from the dance companies of Mazatlan, who performed a timeline with some of the most important events that gave identity to the port.
It should be noted that this was one of the first occasions in which the Sinaloan band took a place on stage and played ‘El Sinaloense’, moving the entire audience. In addition, Karla Rivas, Miss Sinaloa, crowned the Marquis, Gibran First, Ivanna First, Queen of Floral Games, awarded the crown to Francisco, Prince of Carnival, and Karolina Segunda, Queen of Carnival, crowned King Obed Ibarra.

Ensuring that there was no incident that required public security services, the Mayor of Mazatlan, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, was pleased that the sanitary measures were adequate during the first carnival event.
Benítez Torres affirmed that this could be one of the best Carnivals that the port has seen, however, he recognized that the issue of capacity during the parade will be one of the biggest challenges they will face, since there will be more than 250 thousand people who could meet on the boardwalk.
“We had an excellent start to Carnival and I am sure it will be one of the best carnivals in Mazatlan,” he said.
“It is the major challenge, being able to take care, have order of all kinds, even the health, in an open space where more than 250,000 people can arrive, is a challenge for us, but telling the President that he is going to feel proud of the work that is done here in Mazatlan, in health matters,” he added.
Sanitary protocols are complied with on the first day of the Mazatlan Carnival
As for the first event of the Carnival, that is, the coronation of the King, approximately 19,000 people filled the capacity allowed in the Teodoro Mariscal baseball stadium, with the presence of 200 people monitoring the health controls.
He said that the massive events such as the Naval Battle and the float parades next Sunday and Tuesday will be a great challenge.
“It is the major challenge, being able to take care, have order of all kinds, even health, in an open space, where more than 250,000 people will be able to arrive; it is a challenge for us, but telling the President (Andrés Manuel López Obrador) that You will feel proud of the work that is done here in Mazatlan on health issues.”
The Mayor called on citizens to take care of themselves and accept that we are still in a pandemic, so everyone is responsible for their health, while the Government ensures that all preventive measures are followed and that all health protocols are respected.
