Mazatlan Sinaloa. – Mazatlan needs businessmen to arrive who bet everything on luxury and quality hotels, and not “mediocre” hotels to bring tourists with high economic capacity, but who currently do not arrive because these types of resorts do not exist and they go to other destinations where they do have them, stated Ernesto Coppel Kelly.

The Mazatlan businessman applauded that the authorities are doing a good job in remodeling avenues, gardens and promoting the construction of condominiums and hotels, however, currently the only thing they are betting on so that the tourist destination detonates is with the inauguration of the Mar de Cortés Aquarium next September, for which they expect the visit of federal authorities.

“The moment you make your first visit tour to the Aquarium, you will understand why it is there, it will be a catapult to accelerate the construction of new hotels, the construction of more restaurants because Mazatlan is going to shrink” .

Expanding on this, Coppel Kelly revealed that they just sent a document to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, so that he leads the inauguration ceremony, of this attraction, which will undoubtedly change the course of what is being done in Mazatlan, especially in tourism investment, and with what would position the destination above others.

He specified that the Mar de Cortés Aquarium, which will be the largest in Latin America, presents a millionaire investment in dollars, and will be key to influencing the arrival of tourists from all over the continent, which should be well used by investors, to turn to see Mazatlan.

“I’m not going to say anything new, please, for pity’s sake, build quality, we’re already fed up with little ‘pinchis’ hotels, we want great hotels to bring people with high purchasing power.”

About the La Perla museum, which is planned to be built right there in Central Park, but once the aquarium is finished, for which they already have the approval of the Ministry of Tourism and with whom they will coordinate to find the resources necessary to carry out the complementary work of this tourist complex.

He added that, for him, the issue of Carnival is not on his radar, since for the hotel sector it is Carnival all year round and he checks it with the occupancy levels he has in the two hotels in Mazatlan, which are around 90 percent, while, at the general level of the group, with a presence in other destinations, the general occupation is close to 93 percent.

Ernesto Coppel: who is the new “shark” of Shark Tank and how he amassed his fortune

Arturo Elías Ayub, one of the most impressive and beloved sharks in the Shark Tank series, decided to leave the broadcast, but his place was immediately taken by two other impressive businessmen.

One of them is Ernesto Coppel Kellya multi-award-winning businessman who has dedicated his entire life to hospitality in northern Mexico, is also a renowned philanthropist, writer, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Pueblo Bonito Golf & Spa Resorts. .

The story of Ernesto Coppel necessarily takes us to Mazatlán, a city in the state of Sinaloa, where the now businessman was born in 1947 and where he spent much of his life.

It was in that state where, since 1987, the development of luxury hotels on the edge of the beach began, and currently, according to its official website, it has a total of six: two on the Pacific Coast in Mazatlan and four in Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula.

“Each of these properties has its own architecture and decoration, which Ernesto Coppel Kelly embellishes with antiques and original pieces of art that he selects specifically for each hotel, resort, or residential community that he has in mind,” they described.

In 1985 they placed the first stone of the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlán hotel, which was inaugurated in 1987; in 1994 he did the same with Pueblo Bonito Blanco Los Cabos, and by 1997 he also had Pueblo Bonito Rosé in the same city.

Its hotels continued to grow during the first decade of the 2000s. Entering the new century he inaugurated Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay in Mazatlan, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach in Los Cabos, and Montecristo Estates Luxury Villas, as well as Pueblo Bonito Pacifica in Los Cabos.

Quivira Los Cabos is one of its most recent and exclusive developments on the Peninsula. Its complex began in 2012 and has 728 hectares that extend over 5 kilometers of beach.

Inside it houses private subdivisions such as Montecristo, Novaispania, Coronado, Copala, Mavila and Alvar. In addition, there is a golf club, as well as two world-class hotels: Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort and Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort.

In the 1990s, he was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award by the National Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Services of Mazatlan, and the Award for the Greatest Entrepreneur in Job Creation by the CTM of Sinaloa.

But his plans do not stop there, because now he wants to expand the hotel empire to San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, where he intends to open Pueblo Bonito with an investment of between 350 and 500 million dollars.

He was also awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award for Tourism by the National Chamber of Commerce; and the Five Star Diamond Award by The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, in 2004 and 2005 respectively.

On the other hand, it was in 2004 when former Mexican President Vicente Fox named Ernesto Coppel as Entrepreneur of the Year. Even Coppel was a tourist advisor during the first PAN six-year term in history.

In addition, he is credited with the creation of the Letty Coppel Foundation, in 2004, together with Mrs. Letty Coppel, with the aim of improving the quality of life and the development of the communities of Los Cabos and Mazatlán.

According to the official page, his greatest concern is supporting the neediest people, their environment, what happens to them, and their development. Therefore, they dedicate their efforts to various areas of action: social assistance, community development, and culture and traditions.

“All these philanthropic efforts centralized through the Letty Coppel Foundation, achieve the development and continuous improvement of our communities,” they reported through their website.
