Miguel Torruco Marqués visits the Administration of the National Port System and the work of the Mar de Cortés Aquarium
Mazatlan, Sinaloa. – This city and tourist destination is in an impressive phase of development and growth, and proof of this are the projects for the rehabilitation and growth of the port wharf and the construction of the Mar de Cortés Aquarium, conceived as the largest in Latin America.
This was confirmed by the Secretary of Federal Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, who, in the company of the Municipal President, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, and the Secretary of State Tourism, María del Rosario Torres Noriega, visited the Mazatlán National Port System Administration, where its director, Rear Admiral Mariel Ancona Infanzón, explained the port infrastructure works that are about to start this year.
Among them, he explained, are the repair of the El Crestón and Los Chivos breakwaters; wave mitigation works, dredging of the navigation channel, cruise terminal plaza, berth number 3 for ferries, adaptation of pier 7, construction of pier 8, piers for tenders and development on the way to the lighthouse.
Given the concern of the federal official about the March 31 Fort, Chemist Benítez explained that there is already a tourism project that will be a new attraction for the city.
Subsequently, the officials visited the work of the Mar de Cortés Aquarium to learn about the progress, which is 77 percent complete and maintains its opening date for the month of October of this year.
During the visit to this construction, they were accompanied by the tourist businessman, Ernesto Coppel Kelly, and the director of the Mar de Cortés Aquarium project, Guillermo Zerecero Velo, who highlighted that they have projected a total investment of 1.7 billion.
