Emilio Hernández Kelly explained that the saturation that exists in ports such as Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas, have turned their eyes to this port for unloading.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The saturation that exists in the ports of Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas has influenced that Mazatlán is being taken into account to grow container mobility, which would generate a very good year 2022 for this destination, explained Emilio Hernández Kelly.

The president of the Port Community of Mazatlán mentioned that the carriers are seriously thinking of staying in the port area of this city for their general cargo, which ranges from wood or steel, to coils, scrap, salt, and all kinds of cargo.

“Mazatlán is serving for the release of non-containerized general cargo, which due to the saturation of ports that move containers, ships are coming here and you can see it at the anchorage of the port, ships waiting to make their landfall here.”

He said, one of the advantages that shippers are seeing is that Mazatlán has reception possibilities that other ports no longer have, but, in addition, it rules out that there may be a saturation in the short term, thus recovering part of the activity that was lost due to the pandemic, which allows a moderate recovery of the economy.

Although as an organization they detect a problem in Mazatlan and it is the conclusion of the Roosevelt collector since the works are halfway through and force traffic through a single lane of Emilio Barragán Avenue, also causing a bad image when tourist cruise ships arrive.

He added that this work corresponds to the state authorities, however, they have not announced a completion date either.
