Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- In the cities of Los Mochis, Culiacán, and Mazatlán, the perception of insecurity in the population aged 18 and over was reduced, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
According to its National Survey of Urban Public Safety (ENSU) from the fourth quarter of last year, at the national level, 65.8 percent of the population aged 18 and over considered that it is unsafe to live in their city, a percentage of 1.4 per percent higher than that registered in September of that same year, which was 64.5 percent.
In this edition, the autonomous body exposes, 16 cities in the country had significant statistical changes compared to September 2021: 10 had reductions (including the 3 in Sinaloa) and 6 cities increased them. While 74 cities remained unchanged.
According to Inegi, in the city of Culiacán in the month of September 2021, the percentage of perception of insecurity was 61.9 percent, while in December of that same year, it was 56.3 percent. 5 percentage points less from one quarter to another.
In the city of Mazatlán, in September, its level of perception of insecurity was 51.7 percent, and in December it was reduced to 46.1 percent, that is, 5 percentage points less.
However, the best-ranked city in the state of Sinaloa was Los Mochis, where in September the level of perception of insecurity was 38.3 percent, and for December, it fell to 28.9 percent, that is, almost 10 percentage points.
