Meet Yareli Salazar from Sinaloa, the first Mexican to participate in the Women’s Tour de France

Yareli Salazar will make history by becoming the first Mexican cyclist to race within the Tour de France.

MAZATLAN. – The Sinaloan cyclist Lizbeth Yareli Salazar Vázquez, who will sign with the professional team Ceratizit WNT, will become the first Mexican to participate in the first Women’s Tour de France, a competition that will begin in June.

The Olympic athlete will start her 2022 season within the international fair in Spain, on February 6, at the start of the cycle towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Through a virtual conference, the native of Culiacán expressed that this year her priority is the World Track Championship, scheduled in France.

“I have just signed with the Ceratizit WNT team for two years, there are 16 of us in the team, we already had the first concentrate in December, in addition to meeting each other, we set the goals for 2022. It is very exciting to be surrounded by the best of the road world and track, it will be very good for me, “she said.

Salazar Vázquez said that she will seek classification on the track and also on the road, but her objective this year will be the track, for the Sinaloan it is the Track World Cup, but to reach that World Cup, she has to compete in World Cups and international competitions that give points for the ranking; the World Cup will open the scores to the Olympic Games in Paris.
