Mazatlan Aquarium breaks visitor record, surpass 660 thousand tourists in 2021

Pablo Rojas Zepeda mentioned that they exceeded the mark that had been left in 2019, of 630 thousand tourists, despite the pandemic and the third wave of infections in the middle of the summer vacation period

The general director mentioned that, the income of visitors in ‘regular-season reaches 1,200 walkers, but since the week before Christmas they rose by up to 3,000 people per day, and in annual total, last year it set a new record with more than six hundred and sixty thousand visitors.

“Visitors around six hundred and sixty thousand, which is also a record number, per year, 2021 is the best year since we are in charge of Acuario Mazatlán, in 2019 we had an influx of approximately six hundred and thirty thousand visitors.”

He explained that with the opening of the Penguinarium in March, the influx of tourists grew exponentially and was maintained during the holiday period of Easter and part of summer, although with the arrival of the third wave, it decreased, there was a notable recovery to from the month of September and October, once the contagions have decreased.

He said that compared to 2019, before the pandemic, it had been the best year for Acuario Mazatlán with more than six hundred and thirty thousand visitors; But this year that ended, with everything and a pandemic, there were months that had up to 90 thousand tourists per month, which is good in terms of collection.
