The Mayor of Mazatlán pointed out that the party is not canceled due to the detection of the new omicron variant in Sinaloa and ensures that the cruise ship ‘The World’ could return in two months.
MAZATLÁN.- The first case detected in Sinaloa of the new Ómicron variant will not be an impediment for the New Year’s Eve party, called “Welcome 2022”, to take place.
The mayor, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres reiterated that the celebration continues and this is thanks to the fact that Mazatlán has registered low numbers of Covid-19 infections in the last two months.
“Today we woke up with 12 cases, and what it represents is minimal and we must continue like this,” he said.
He made it clear that he is respectful of the situation, so they will adhere to strict sanitary protocols in bars, clubs, and recreation centers, as well as the rules of the cruise ships that visit the port every week.
“We have been strict in maintaining ourselves, we are demanding. There is no mercy for anyone, “he said.
Regarding the end of the year party, the event will take place from the monument to the Mazatleca Woman to the Shield of Sinaloa to give a greater margin of spaces and that the attendees respect the healthy distance and the rest of the health protocols.
At this party, there will be 400 tables with eight seats each, representing a total of 3,200 people.
The World cruise returns
The municipal leader revealed that the residential cruise “The World”, which is a floating community that travels the seas of the world visiting dozens of countries and only stopping in some ports for a couple of days, it is possible that it will return to Mazatlán in two months.
