Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The Christmas celebration increased sales in Mazatlán butchers by 60% and they expect another rebound from Wednesday, for the end of the year evening.

The president of the Local Livestock Association, Felipe Sandoval Velarde, announced that the slaughterhouse of the municipality has operated normally at this time, however, there has been an increase in the prices of meat due to the Christmas festivities.

Although it is normal due to the dates, it is expected that their price will not rise so much, but that they will be maintained so that people can access these products.

Without specifying prices, he commented that these vary in the various establishments, but shared that currently around 60 cattle are slaughtered a day.

Velarde Sandoval pointed out that around 160 animals are killed daily, including pigs and cattle, under the new certification.

“Right now on the slaughterhouse an average of 60 cattle a day and 80 to 100 pigs are being killed, but right now we do not have a cutting room, we only have the canal, and that is not very reflected in the cattle rancher,” he said.

The livestock leader pointed out that they will be waiting to meet with the authorities to make the request for the cutting room again, so that together with the obtaining of the TIF Trail certificate, the benefits will reach the meat producers of the southern region of Sinaloa, such as being able to export its products in new national and foreign markets, where at least 1,576 producers will benefit.
