Concordia ready for one more edition of the 2022 San Sebastián Marathon

The arrival of 500 national to international competitors is expected

Everything is ready so that this January 16, the 39th edition of the San Sebastián Half Marathon takes place, which is expected to have an average of 500 competitors, both national and international.

That race, which is called “Candelario González Padilla” resurfaces after the Covid 19 pandemic forced it to be suspended last year.

This sporting event that is considered the longest-running in the municipality of Concordia returns with more force, and this time it will distribute a prize of 186 thousand pesos, in addition to the fact that 2 motorcycles will be raffled among the registered runners.

The official announcement of this race was made by the municipal president of Concordia, Raúl Díaz Bernal, and the Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion and Operation Estrella Palacios, who stated that the Tourism Secretariat will always support tourism events in favor of the municipality; and this has become a very important event, as it has become a tradition, and has made sports tourism one more attraction for tourists.

The registration sites to participate will be the restaurant “El Bambú” as of January 14 and the Sports Center of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa on January 15.

The registration fee is 300 pesos, for those who want to participate in the 21 km race and 150 pesos for those interested in the 5 km race, all registered will be given a Kit, which includes a shirt, medal, and food of the event.

In order to participate in the race, participants must present their certificate of vaccination against Covid 19.

During the announcement of this sporting event, there was the president of the Sinaloa Athletics Association, Melesio Angulo Hernández, who delivered the endorsement of the Mexican Federation chaired by Antonio Pineda, to certify that the race meets the requirements that are required and ensured that have health protocols for this type of event.

For his part, the president of the Municipal Sports Committee, Esteban López, announced that Paralympic athletes will participate, as well as Kenyans, Ethiopians, Canadians, athletes from Sinaloa, and from various entities of the Mexican Republic.
