Mazatlan congestion ends, municipality will install Smart traffic lights

Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – Given the constant road congestion that is generated in Mazatlan by different crossroads and avenues, the municipal president, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, reported that he is planning to install a system of Intelligent Traffic Lights, to help in this regard to the road.

Benítez Torres, acknowledged that, in effect, the roads in Mazatlán are becoming more complicated every day and that as an international tourist destination it is important that the roads improve.

“I advance that we are looking at the possibility of installing Smart Traffic Lights, we are only waiting for the State Government Highway Secretary to grant us the use and responsibility of the traffic lights here in the municipality,” he added.

On this issue, the secretary of the City Council, Edgar González Zatarain, commented that an appointment had already been made with the State Department of Roads and Transportation, on Wednesday of next week to follow up on the request of the municipal president.

This information was provided by Benítez Torres when he heard the participation of the councilor, Francisca Osuna Velarde, who, in her participation in General Affairs, in the session of Cabildo number 3, recognized that mobility and road traffic in Mazatlán is becoming more and more complicated.

He asked the Mazatlán City Council to present a project through the Urban Planning and Development and Ecology direction to review and modify the guidelines on public roads in order to facilitate vehicular circulation.
