Gas y Petroquímica de Occidente ensures that the participatory exercise was developed under clear rules, with fairness in the process and a good response from the population

Los Mochis, Sin .- Gas y Petroquímica de Occidente happy with the development and result of the participatory exercise that took place this November 28 in the municipalities of Ahome, El Fuerte and Guasave; and, in which the preliminary results, according to pollsters, overwhelmingly outweigh the “yes” to the construction and operation of a fertilizer plant in the port of Topolobampo.

Through an official statement, GPO, expresses that the inhabitants of northern Sinaloa gave “yes” to thousands of well-paid jobs, a green project that does not pollute and social programs that will improve development opportunities and quality of life of people.

But, above all, a “yes” to a safe project, with the best technology that will allow the timely supply of fertilizers at competitive prices and opens a new era of sustainable development in the region.

In the text that it sent to the media, the GPO company assures that, with the support that citizens have given them, a precedent is set for the development of Sinaloa.

“The citizens who participated in this exercise can feel proud of having taken yes as their option, because they have given the opportunity of a better future to those who ask for better opportunities for well-paid work so as not to emigrate.

Likewise, to all those who make a living from fishing and want the bay to regain its productivity, to all farmers who require a timely supply of fertilizers at competitive prices, as well as to all those who aspire to have a lagoon system with abundance of flora and marine fauna ”.

“Since the announcement made on August 5, 2020 by the President of the Republic, Lic. Andrés Manuel López Obrador (sic), for this participatory exercise to take place, at GPO Planta de Fertilizantes we express our approval, trusting that was conducted by the competent authority based on the prior publication of a call that would guarantee, with clear rules, the fairness of the process, the participation of citizens residing in the project’s area of influence, and that the votes cast would count and be counted with total transparency ”, the document reads.

In addition, Gas y Petroquímica stresses that it is grateful to the public and hopes that the authorities will enforce the will of the people.

“We have lived and verified that the authority fully complied with these premises, organizing an exemplary day, which passed in order and with a highly diverse and plural participation, where the citizens of Ahome, Guasave, and El Fuerte were able to freely express their opinion in an informed and at peace ”.

Finally, GPO expressed that this Monday they will be waiting for the federal authority to pronounce itself and issue a final result.
