Mazatlán, Sin.- As part of the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women this November 25, groups of feminist female artists called for a peaceful demonstration at the Valentinos photographic parador.
Jaqueline López Leal, a spokeswoman for the collective Historias de Venus de Mazatlán, pointed out that this awareness-raising act is part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, a campaign that is carried out internationally and annually, starting on November 25 and continuing until December 10.
“This activity is cultural, it is awareness through art, we and the group of Mujeres Creando Sinaloa are convening it, which is in the state capital,” he said.
As a performance, they placed post-it in each of the letters of the parador with the names of the women who have been victims of femicide in the state and who still have no progress or response to their case.
“We seek to raise awareness, to say that we no longer want more women and more girls to be killed, the numbers are increasing, unfortunately, this is growing, it is said that there are strategies, that they are being trained, but we are not seeing the results,” he added.
He emphasized that eradicating violence against women is a social problem that concerns everyone, however, he regretted, we still live in a sexist and misogynistic society, where there is also a lack of training for public officials and actors.
Subsequently, a roll call was made of 33 women who have been victims of femicide, from January to date, in Sinaloa; where Culiacán stands out with 16 femicides and Mazatlán with four.
