Beach vendors report that commercial activity is at 80% and in the next holiday season, they expect to reach up to 100%

MAZATLÁN.- After having experienced a temporary closure of beaches as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the vendors of Isla de la Piedra in Mazatlán are recovering little by little and gradually returning to their old normality.

Through a survey carried out by the Punto MX team, the vendors expressed that the collateral effects of the pandemic left them badly hit, without money, without work, and even some without food to eat in days, but after the reopening of beaches, from non-essential shops and with the arrival of tourism, they recovered their sales again.

“You already feel a relief, the truth is that we had a very bad time last year, but right now we are already seeing an improvement. People are coming to the island, we are all doing well ”.

They indicated that in the region, sales are at 80 percent, thanks to the bridges and national tourists who visit the port, but it is mostly “cruise passengers” who consume their products the most.

“Right now we do have sales of up to 80 percent, that’s on good days, but during the week we’re also doing more or less well. There is no comparison when the beaches were closed ”.

They want their Christmas

With the arrival of the upcoming December holiday season, merchants expect sales to improve further to 100 percent.
