MAZATLÁN.- Did you know that we have an Ulama team in Sinaloa? Well, yes and it will represent us in a National Meeting of Native and Traditional Games and Sports that will take place from December 1 to 5 in Comitán, Chiapas.
However, to be able to attend they need support to complete the trip of the members because despite having some money and even new suits, they lack per diem in regards to food.
Aurelio Osuna Bonilla is the leader of the group, he mentioned that Ulama has opened up the possibilities of leaving Chamizal, the place where he lives with his family, and although they try to save for this type of meeting, they do not have for the rest of the team or cover a plane ticket.
“I would like the authorities to support us with some expenses, we strive so that this tradition is preserved and we represent the state, we have traveled to Europe thanks to Ulama, but many times we do not have the money to cover with meals,” he said.
Osuna Bonilla pointed out that they have knocked on doors, they have gone to the Mazatlán City Council and its para-municipalities, both to Culture, such as the Mazatlán Municipal Sports Institute and the DIF System, without obtaining a satisfactory response.
They have also requested the support of the San Ignacio City Council, and the same thing happens to them. The only agency that has supported them is the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas.
“We would leave by plane from Culiacán to Mexico City and we have to transfer and wait three hours to leave for Chiapas. In those three hours, what do we do? Sometimes we don’t even carry money to buy food, we don’t even wear uniforms, what we have is from our purse ”, he declared.
In this national meeting, the teams from Ulama that still prevail, both from the Riviera Maya, as well as from the Chiapas area, Guerrero, the Bajío area and from the north goes the Sinaloa team, games are held and the best are awarded.
