Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Mazatlan should not kill the hen that lays golden eggs with the approval of construction of condominium towers in the historic center, since there is a regulation that will prevent the buildings are superior to the three levels, called Servando Red Quintero.

The delegate of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, mentioned that in the last year around six sanctions have been lifted in this area of ​​the city for remodeling or construction since they do not comply with the guidelines of the agency that seeks to safeguard historical monuments, as all the buildings in the historic center of Mazatlán are considered. 

“If we allow them to deteriorate the Historic Center by building tall buildings and all that, we are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, it is not only a matter of authenticity and culture, it is a matter of long-term economic vision.”

He stressed that INAH is open to making improvements to historic buildings, as long as the necessary requirements are met, with projects that do not affect the characteristics that must be met by regulations, as it is a protected area as a world heritage site. . 

He added that Mazatlán as a tourist destination with two different types of visitors, those who like the cultural theme and architecture, and those who come to enjoy the beach, therefore, it is important that special care is taken in the architecture of that part. of the city, especially when it is considered under the declaration of a zone of monuments.
