Mazatlan alcohol checkpoint leads to 28 arrest

Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – As part of the Halloween 2021 operation, the Ministry of Public Safety and Municipal Traffic reported that, from October 28 to 30, 271 tests were carried out on the breathalyzer, of which 206 were applied to men and 65 to women, at different points from the city.

Jorge Samuel Alvarado Estrada, deputy director of Municipal Transit, said that, of the 271 tests, 24 men tested positive for alcohol consumption, as well as 4 women.

He highlighted that in addition, a man was referred to the Civic Court and 125 had alcoholic breath, but they did not exceed the 0.40 allowed in the Law.

The Traffic Regulations prohibit driving vehicles when there is an amount of alcohol in the blood greater than 0.8 g / lt, or it’s equivalent in air 0.4 mg / lt.

“A vehicle was transferred to the Municipal Pension of Valles del Ejido, 32 vehicles were released by their relatives in the place, 8 vehicles were foreign and with an age range of 20 to 50 years,” he explained.

Alvarado Estrada also said that from the 29th to the 31st of the month there were 11 accidents that resulted in a balance of 6 injured, one death, and damages of approximately 418 thousand pesos.
