Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- La Junta Municipal Drinking Water Mazatlan ( Jumapam ) said Friday begins operations to dismantling treatment plat Urias 2, so that the plant will close the Crestón and tear it down. These works would take between 6 and 8 months.
The general manager of Jumapam, Luis Gerardo Núñez Gutiérrez, explained that this new treatment plant was stopped due to the interconnection by the railroad crossing and this Friday Urías 2 comes into operation and with that the total dismantling of El Crestón will begin.
With Urías 2 we are going to treat between 400 and 500 liters per second, and it is the strongest, it is what we were waiting for, (it would benefit) everything that is the Center, part of Juárez, everything that Gabriel Leyva The part there, there are many inhabitants, but it really is a brand new plant where we are going to be able to put up to 500 liters per second, it is very important and that is where the expansion of the north-west comes from ”, explained the municipal official.
Núñez Gutiérrez clarified that it was working at the beginning when it was inaugurated, but a basic interconnection was missing and it was already done and it begins to work normally as of Friday.
He added that its waters will be poured into the Urías estuary.
He said that the sewage that reached the Crestón plant will now be diverted to the Urías 1 and 2 plants.
