If the conditions of the pandemic allow it, it would be until January of next year

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- It would be until January 2022, as long as the conditions of Covid-19 contagions allow it when one could talk about increasing the capacity to 100 percent in public establishments, considered the head of the Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fishing (Sedectur), Luis Terán Tirado.

The local National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) trusted that in the next ratification of the green epidemiological traffic light, the capacity of 75 in which they are maintained could be increased to 100 percent.

In this regard, the municipal official clarified that for the moment they cannot be increased to 100 percent, but that they are at 70 or 75 percent since there is still no green light to open to 100.

“I do not believe that the gauges will reopen to 100 percent, possibly in January of the coming year and this is determined by the federal authorities, not determined by the municipality or the state,” he said.

Regarding the increase in tourist cruises arrivals at the port, Terán Tirado reported that from the third week of the month up to three vessels will be arriving, but for the moment two will arrive until the last day of October.

He said that apart from the cruise ship “Carnival Panorama”, the “Princess” will arrive and that they will arrive the same, with a capacity of 50 percent, which will gradually increase as the cold weather tightens in the northern part of the United States.

Currently, they arrive with an average of 2,700 to 3,000 passengers, but as of November 15, cruise ships are normally full.

The head of Sedectur visualized with the new flights from Canada, the increase in cruise arrivals and the increase in hotel reservations, a very pleasant outlook for Mazatlan, which is why the economy of all sectors is expected to recover.
