Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Mazatlán DIF System in coordination with Asociación Ale, Instituto Oftavisión, and Fundación Cinépolis kick off the Campaign for free cataract surgery in the port with the medical evaluation of more than 400 people who seek to be suitable candidates for operations.


The general director of DIF Mazatlán, Dora Luz Camacho Llamas, representing Gabriela Peña Chico, president of the paramunicipal, attended the evaluation event where she stated that the campaign has been prepared in favor of the most vulnerable.


“We are doing the evaluations for cataract surgery that will be carried out the next days of October, all this is thanks to the support and collaboration that Chemist Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres always gives us and the sensitivity and empathy with the older adults of Mrs. Gabriela Peña Chico (…) is a campaign that has been prepared exclusively for vulnerable people who need it most, ”he commented.


The evaluations were carried out in the auditorium of the Municipal Sports Institute on September 21 and 22, at a press conference the evaluation of 300 people had been announced, however, due to the high demand, more than 400 people were evaluated by specialist doctors.


These evaluations seek to find suitable candidates to perform 120 cataract operations, which will be carried out on October 18, 19 and 20 at the Margarita Maza de Juárez Hospital.
