Westjet airline advances Calgary frequencies from September 27
Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- After more than a year that Canadian flights to Mexico were suspended due to Covid-19, the Westjet airline will restart operations from Canada to Mazatlán as of September 27.
The commercial director of the Playa Mazatlán hotel, Alfredo Zenteno, confirmed that the arrival of flights to the destination is anticipated for the winter season.
He stated that next week the first flight from Calgary will arrive in Mazatlan with a weekly arrival that will be every Saturday, and subsequently, the frequencies will be increased.
” At the end of this month, flights from Canada begin to reactivate and flights from Calgary begin to arrive, by October Vancouver and Edmonton will join and in December Sunwing, from the west part, begins to activate, ” he said.
He expressed that the return of Canadian flights to the destination represents the reactivation at the international level, where Mazatlán is believed to be the first travel option.
He indicated that although a connection with the United States is maintained, seats are limited, but it is expected that at the end of October the flights of the American union will increase.
The hotel executive pointed out that in the case of domestic plane seats, they are increasing, and that it has been domestic tourism that has maintained the Mazatlan tourism sector.
” Obviously we have focused on national and regional because they are the easiest move and can help us increase hotel occupancy on weekends, ” he concluded.
