Núñez Gutiérrez explained that having a production of 2,400 liters per second, now there are only 1,400, which is not enough for the 400 neighborhoods that the city has to be fully supplied.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The production of the vital liquid is at 60 percent, so the repeated call of the Municipal Board of Potable Water and Sewerage of Mazatlán is to be very careful in its use.

Luis Gerardo Núñez Gutiérrez, General Manager of Jumapam, explained that having a production of 2,400 liters per second, now there are only 1,400, which is not enough for the more than 400 neighborhoods that the city has to be supplied in its whole.

“With the water channel that broke in the Lomas de Monterrey area and is being repaired by Conagua, now we have little water in Dam 6, which is the one that supplies and feeds Horcones, so we have a decrease of almost a thousand liters (in production), those thousand liters is what the Mazatlán community is lacking, ”he said.

Núñez Gutiérrez stressed that Jumapam is making a superhuman effort, 24 hours a day, to be able to keep the supply as high as possible. What it had previously, 2,400 liters per second, was fine to satisfy the city’s consumption, but the collapse of the feeder canal severely impacted production.

The call is to take care of the water in all activities where its use is required and adapt to the low pressure in the supply, avoid watering the streets, wash sidewalks and facades with the jet of the hose, turn off the faucet while soaping the dishes, the water where fruits and vegetables are washed, use them to water the plants and many other measures to save water.
