It is expected that with “Nora” it will exceed its maximum capacity

Escuinapa, Sinaloa.- The ” El Peñón ” dam is above ninety percent of its total capacity, as reported by the Municipal Civil Protection Coordination.

After a tour of the dam area, by El Sol de Mazatlán, it was observed that the water level is close to reaching the spillway.

As reported by Civil Protection, it is estimated that the reservoir of the dam is between 90 and 95 percent of its total capacity and approximately 1.5 meters from being at one hundred percent.

So far there has been no information that a controlled venting of the body of water will be implemented, hoping that the level will increase further.

It is estimated that with the rains that may occur due to the “Nora” meteorological phenomenon, of which it is contemplated, will begin to be felt this Saturday from noon, the dam will be completely filled and start to pour water through the landfill that is driven by the Buñigas stream.

It is worth mentioning that prior to the start of the rainy season, the level of the dam was below 10 percent so that during this season the catchment has been more than 80 percent.
