For this summer vacation period, the number of room occupations in accommodation establishments in the port decreased by 10%
Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Given the high number of infections in Mazatlán, tourists from different states of the country postpone their hotel reservations they had for this summer vacation season.
The counselor of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, José Gámez Valle, said that the people who had decided to visit Mazatlán in these days moved their dates for the low season.
“The few reservations that are moving are for September and October and we are tying for those dates which is unusual and it is what we are always looking for,” he said.
Gámez Valle assured that there are few cancellations that have occurred for this vacation period and when they occur they recover quickly.
He insisted that 100% prevention protocols must be complied with and that it must be verified that condominiums and houses dedicated to vacation rentals to guarantee a stay will continue.
For his part, the president of the Tres Islas Hotels Association, José Ramón Maguart Sánchez, confirmed that for this summer vacation period, the number of reservations in Mazatlán accommodation establishments decreased by 10%.
He revealed that hotel occupancy in recent weeks remains around 52% during the week and increases to 58% on weekends.
“Yes there was a decrease in the flow of reservations, we understand it, right now the important thing is to privilege decisions about health and we have been very strict with the instructions of the authorities. We had been at levels of 68%, now it can be said that there is a reduction of eight to 10% in terms of occupancy, “ he said.
Manguart Sánchez said that so far they have not detected any guest who arrives at the accommodation center with the symptoms of the coronavirus.
“They have not touched us, the sanitary filter in the hotels is very clear, anyone who arrives with symptoms of cough, flu is not allowed to enter, has to be referred to the nearest medical center,” he concluded.
