Mazatlán, Sin.- With the return of Sinaloa to the red color at the epidemiological traffic lighthotel reservations in this summer vacation period are uncertain.

The vice president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, Carlos Berdegué Sacristán, said that there is no percentage in reservations because they are very changeable, since some are canceled, but others enter.

However, he estimated that July could close between 68 and 72% occupancy and reservations for the first weeks of August are just beginning to enter.

“Right now some reservations are coming in for the last week of July and the first of August, it will also depend on what will happen with the classes if the children return, if they do, obviously the families will not be able to travel and if they will not be able to continue doing them and taking classes online you have to be very flexible because things go up and down, “he said.

Berdegué Sacristán commented that July is generally better than August, but they will have to wait to see what the behavior will be this season.

According to the statistics of the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat, during the summer vacation period of 2020, in July Mazatlán registered average occupancies of 40% and in August of 56%, with peaks on weekends of 75%.

While, in the summer of 2019, without a pandemic, the hotel industry registered an average occupancy of 86% per week, with peaks on weekends of up to 95%.
