Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Given the increase in Covid-19 that Mazatlán registers, transfers to Isla de la Piedra have decreased by up to 40% since the previous weekend and compared to two previous weeks.
Monica, in charge of the ticket office at the Playa Sur jetty, said that the pandemic again affects transfers to Isla de la Piedra, since at the beginning of the month, with the arrival of tourism, they rebounded 100%, but currently the demand it is at 60%.
He commented that their expectations were very high since the flow of tourists prior to the official start of the holidays was up to 800 people a day.
“Two weeks ago there were a lot of people, but as the cases of Covid-19 began to increase, cancellations in hotels began and here you are alone,” he said.
He explained that over the weekend there were around 400 people who crossed to Isla de la Piedra and on Monday it dropped to 300.
He pointed out that they are complying with all sanitary measures to avoid infections. They are tourists from Durango, Michoacán, Jalisco, and the rest of the municipalities of Sinaloa, who are currently vacationing in the port.
The service provider trusted that during the coming weekends they can increase transfers so that the situation they are experiencing due to the pandemic recovers.
