The New Mazatlán Aquarium is almost finished, which will become one of the 10 largest in the world and the largest in Latin America.

Very soon, Mazantlán will become the city with the largest aquarium in Latin America. It is a project that involves the public and private sectors and the facilities will cover 30 thousand square meters.

The New Mazatlán Aquarium will be located in the Central Park of Mazatlán, a space in the center of the city that will measure about 93,861 square meters. Among the attractions of the park, there is a large artificial lake with species of flora and fauna endemic to the region, cafeterias, bike paths, playgrounds, etc.

The best thing is that the entrance to the park will be totally free and that its inauguration is estimated for the spring of 2022.

In addition to being the largest aquarium in Latin America, the Nuevo Acuario de Mazatlán, Sinaloa, will position itself as one of the ten largest in the world. In turn, the project will be dedicated to the Sea of Cortez, for which it is expected that the flora and fauna of the enclosure are typical of this marine region of Mexico.

The aquarium will promote tourism

The aquarium will be a three-story complex where there will be huge tanks containing flora and fauna, in addition, there will be a marine research center and public service facilities. According to the partners, the project will meet the highest standards of animal care. Likewise, it will seek to promote the conservation of threatened species in the marine world.

The aquarium design is the work of the architect Tatiana Bilbao, who has already had urban projects such as the Culiacán Botanical Garden and the Observatory House in Puerto Escondido. Bilbao has been recognized with the 2014 Global Award for Sustainable Architecture and the 2017 Architizer Impact Award.
