Through a statement, the Harbor Master’s Office notified the maritime community of Topolobampo about the restrictions for smaller vessels, since winds of up to 30 knots and waves of 8 feet are expected in the Gulf of California.

Topolobampo, Sinaloa.- Given the effects that Hurricane Enrique could have, which this Saturday reached category 1, Topolobampo Harbor Master issued a notice to the maritime community about the closure of smaller vessels from this Sunday 27 of June.

In the statement, signed by the Captain of the Port, Jesús López Contreras, it is indicated that it will be from the morning of this Sunday when navigation will be restricted to fishing boats, yachts and coastal fishing boats, since it is expected that from the Monday morning, June 28, winds of between 15 to 20 knots with gusts of 25 to 30 knots begin to be felt, in addition to waves of between 6 to 8 feet in height in the Gulf of California.

It was also reported that the weather conditions may improve during the course of July 1, although it will be until further notice when the port is reopened for navigation.

Likewise, the call was made that in case of going to sea, verify that their safety equipment is available and in good condition, as well as the operation of communication radios and navigation aids, since they are of vital importance for the preservation of human life at sea.
