Tropical depression ‘4-E’ moves towards Sinaloa

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported that Tropical Depression “Cuatro-E” has developed in the Pacific Ocean, it is located 360 kilometers south of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, and has a west-northwest shift.

Given the possible formation of a Tropical Cyclone, the Emergency Operational Committee of the State Council for Civil Protection met this Thursday.

Yesterday, the state Civil Protection reported the presence of a low-pressure area with a 90 percent probability of becoming a cyclone south of the coast of Guerrero, the Emergency Operational Committee of the State Civil Protection Council, declared itself on permanent surveillance to monitor the phenomenon and act to help the population.

At the meeting held in the audiovisual room at the National Water Commission, the information from the National Meteorological Service on the behavior and evolution of the phenomenon was reviewed to implement the protocols established by the National and State Civil Protection System.

The Emergency Operational Committee made up of the State Institute of Civil Protection, General Secretary of Government, Secretary of Welfare, Social Development, National Guard, SEDENA, Navy, DIF, Fisheries and Aquaculture, CONAGUA, Secretary of Health, GN Caminos, CNI, SCT, and the Mexican Red Cross, agreed to keep a close watch on the trajectory of the phenomenon and its evolution in the coming days.

Francisco Vega Director General of Civil Protection Sinaloa asked the agencies present to establish the protocols for assistance to the population in each municipality of the state, as well as to assist in possible evacuations, installation of temporary shelters and deploy the state of force strategically.

They recommend that the population take extreme precautions against the probability of heavy rains in the state; do not cross rivers and bodies of water during this period, as well as avoid vehicular traffic on highways, rural roads, fords, and bridges during rainfall.

Stay informed with local authorities, likewise pay attention only to official sources.

To the municipal authorities of Civil Protection, reinforce preventive activities in the presence or occurrence of rain, wind and waves in population centers settled in high-risk areas; have the Temporary Shelters prepared and organized for their activation.
