Sinaloa says YES to same-sex marriage

With so many votes in favor and so many against, the deputies present at the working meeting of the joint commissions approved the reform of the first paragraphs of articles 40 and 165 of the Family Code of the State of Sinaloa.

Culiacán, Sinaloa.- In Ordinary Public Session, the Sinaloa Congress approved same-sex marriage.

This, after the Judicial Power ordered the Local Congress to approve equal marriage.

With 23 votes in favor, 0 against and 17 absences, the deputies present at the working meeting of the joint commissions approved the reform of the first paragraphs of articles 40 and 165 of the Family Code of the State of Sinaloa.

With these reforms it is established that marriage is an institution through which the voluntary and legal union of two people is established, with equal rights, duties and obligations, in which both respect and mutual help are sought.

In this working meeting in favor of this opinion, the deputies Horacio Lora Oliva, Édgar Augusto González Zatarain and Graciela Domínguez Nava, president and members respectively, voted for the Committee on Constitutional Points and the Interior.

For the Human Rights Commission, in favor of the opinion Jesús Angélica Díaz Quiñónez, José Antonio Crespo López, Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde and Mariana de Jesús Rojo Sánchez, president, secretary and members respectively.

And for the Equity, Gender and Family Commission in favor of the opinion, Francisca Abelló Jordá, Pedro Alonso Villegas Lobo, Jesús Angélica Díaz Quiñónez and Flor Emilia Guerra Mena, president, secretary and members respectively.

During the ordinary public session, conservatives and members of the LGBTQ + community made a presence on the outskirts of Congress, where for hours they remained in attendance, and when the opinion was read, the conservatives decided to withdraw.
