Mazatlán, Sinaloa- Javier Lira González, Mayor Official of the Mazatlán City Council, declared that the issue of restaurants that invade the beach accesses is a matter that must be investigated.

Due to the reports that there are palapa-type restaurants that invade the accesses to the beach in different areas, Lira González said that it is a matter that needs to be investigated since one day they may be violating the regulations and another day they may appear to be regular businesses.

“They have the use of the beach, we need to review each one, they are different (…) We depend a lot on the complaints and we attend to them immediately (…) Each case is different and every day is different.

The official mentioned that each location has a permit authorized by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources of the Government of Mexico, as well as the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection, as the beaches are under federal concession.

“That has to be reviewed according to the concession you have, it is federal, obviously Semarnat and Profepa are the authority in that sense, we who have reviewed, the meters of the concession are more than construction, the only restriction that It tells him that he does not impede the passage of people, “said Lira González.

He recalled that the Department of the Mayor’s Office depends a lot on complaints from citizens, for which he urged to report any irregularity in commercial public places.
