Elite Group of State Police secures weapons and stolen vehicle after chase in Mazatlan

Mazatlán, Sinaloa, May 16, 2021.- The Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat reports that the State Police that is part of the Elite group seized two long weapons, tactical equipment, and a vehicle after a chase in Mazatlán.

While the uniformed men were moving aboard patrols through the streets of the Lico Velarde neighborhood in the port, they found a motor unit in their path that was led by a male person who, upon noticing the police presence, adopted an evasive attitude.

Faced with this situation, persecution began that lasted through some streets and moments later the civilian who was driving the motor unit left it and fled on foot.

The Chevrolet vehicle was left in a state of abandonment, immediately afterward the police approached and requested its status, which after being entered in the corresponding database showed that it has a report of theft for which it was insured.

Two long weapons, chargers, as well as a vest and a helmet from the Ministry of National Defense, were found inside the vehicle, which were also secured.

In the area, a search operation was implemented in order to locate the driver of the vehicle, however, he has not been located.

It should be noted that elements of the State Preventive Police in coordination with authorities of the three orders of government carry out prevention tours on a permanent basis in the southern part of the state in order to inhibit crimes and thereby provide security to citizens.
