Mazatlán, Sinaloa .- With an investment of 563 million pesos in its first stage, on May 4 the construction work of the irrigation district 111 of the Picachos Dam will begin, announced Octavio Loaiza Torres

The vice president of the Presidio River Farmers Association explained that the work will be divided into three stages and will have a total investment of 2.7 billion pesos with federal resources, benefiting 3,000 producers from 16 communities in southern Sinaloa.

“Last week the work was tendered to two national companies for the construction of the first stage of the work,” he said.

He stated that it is contemplated within the first stage to build the irrigation canals of the communities of Siqueros, El Bajío, El Guayabo, El Roble, and part of Villa Unión.

He commented that this project contemplates irrigating 22 thousand 500 hectares of the municipalities of Mazatlán, Concordia, and El Rosario, and the works will begin on the left bank of the Presidio River.

He stressed that the benefit of this hydraulic work will be directly for three municipalities in the south of the state, it will be an economic spill of 3 billion pesos for an agricultural cycle, since there will be product manufacturing, manufacturing, primary and secondary products.

Loaiza Torres recalled that last December the President of the Republic made a commitment to the producers of the south of the state and guaranteed the construction of this work.

“The producers are very grateful to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador because he fulfilled his promise to unlock the resources labeled for the construction of the irrigation districts. Thanks to the support provided by all of them, this May 4 they will finally begin the construction of the irrigation districts ” , he concluded.
