CPC reported that the event will cost 2.5 million pesos

Under the theme “With the Carnival in the Heart: A drop of joy to continue taking care of us”, the commune announced the carnival parties that will take place in digital format from February 10 to 17. The party, as reported, will cost 2.5 million pesos (mdp).

It should be remembered that on December 18, the council approved the 2021 Expenditure Budget that allocates about 13 million 760 thousand pesos to the Permanent Carnival Committee (CPC). In the session of January 28, the municipal secretary Alejandro Ruz mentioned that the cost of the operation of the organization ranges between 6 and 6.5 million pesos.

“This year we will miss the parades, the comparsas, the concerts, and the costumes, but we must continue to take care of ourselves without interrupting the tradition, in a responsible way and that is one of the main messages that the celebration flags. Laughing, enjoying at home with the nuclear family is also positive for health, more so in the current situation ”, the organizers pointed out.

This new version of the festival will reach the homes of Merida through social networks, radio, and television with a wide range of entertainment. Through the contents, the CPC seeks to generate jobs as well as recreation, “it is a support for thousands of faces and hands that participate in its realization”, they assured.

Characters from the artistic world and from social networks such as Ruperta Pérez Sosa, Chino Fernández, Circe Coldwell, Dzereco and Nohoch, Cuxum and his Regional Theater Company, and Mau Soberanes will share the messages of the campaign with humor and their style.

Programming will begin on February 10 with the Burning of Bad Humor ceremony; and the beginning of the Carnival costume exhibition in Plaza La Isla. From Thursday, February 11 to Tuesday, February 16, the special program Con el Carnaval en el Corazón will be broadcast, during which kings and queens from past editions will share their experiences.

The transmissions include the Night of Comparsas, a series of short documentaries about how the Carnival is built and to close, the Burial of Juan Carnaval.

It should be noted that no activity will take place at the fairgrounds, the programming is carried out with recorded and archival material. As for the kings of Carnival, the decision was made not to make a contest or election in any of its six categories so as not to expose any citizen, mainly those who are at-risk population.

Last night the official theme of the Carnival of Mérida 2021 was presented. In the production, you can see emblematic places of the Yucatecan capital, such as the markets and the Plaza Grande, where medical personnel, regional artists and citizens in general danced to the beat of the new song.
