Blackout leaves different areas of Quintana Roo, Querétaro, and Veracruz without electricity

Municipal authorities have reported that electric power service has been restored in some areas, however, it has not been possible to quantify how many neighborhoods were affected.

Authorities reported that the blackout was registered at the national level affected different areas in states such as Quintana Roo, Querétaro, and Veracruz.

In some neighborhoods in the municipalities of Querétaro, El Marqués, and Corregidora, a blackout was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m., which lasted only a few minutes. These blackouts left problems in some telephone companies such as Telcel, who stopped providing services for minutes.

Traffic lights stopped working for more than an hour in Cancun

After the blackout that occurred this afternoon in various parts of the Republic, in Quintana Roo the effects were reported in at least seven of the 11 municipalities of the state, according to local reports. The municipalities that were affected were Tulum, Solidaridad, Cozumel, Puerto Morelos, Benito Juárez, Isla Mujeres, and Lázaro Cárdenas. It is estimated that the affected users were more than 200 thousand in Quintana Roo territory.

The roads also resulted in incidents, for example in Cancun, the traffic management reported that two of the busiest roads, such as Avenida Kabah and Avenida Andrés Quintana Roo, the traffic lights stopped working for more than an hour due to the lack of supply of electric power.

Several private companies had to make use of electricity plants to enter as support due to the lack of energy. According to the Ministry of Health in the general hospitals of the entity, no incidents were reported.

Municipalities of Veracruz continue without electricity

Municipalities of Veracruz remain without electricity service since last December 24, and those who had their service restored, this Monday suffered interruptions that lasted from 10 to 20 minutes.

In the municipality of Veracruz, irregular and regular colonies, subdivisions, and housing units suffer havoc due to power blackouts derived from the fall of poles and transformers of the Federal Electricity Commission on December 24, when the cold front 23 brought blasts of winds from the north up to 126.4 kilometers per hour.
